The Counseling Solutions Adolescent Outpatient Aftercare Program

The Counseling Solutions Adolescent Outpatient Aftercare Program utilizes two major therapeutic techniques and the Competent Child Psychological Skills Curriculum Model in servicing adolescent clientele,

The first therapeutic technique is the evidenced based Hazeldon “Living in Balance” Program which addresses the initial transition from intensive therapeutic recovery to outpatient living.

The second therapeutic technique extends the program to the family. As developed by Jose Szapocznik and William Kurtines and featured in SAMHSA Best Practices 2006, the program titled Brief Strategic FamilyTherapy (BSFT) uses traditional structural family therapy categories applied in an integrated fashion as follows: joining, diagnosis, and restructuring techniques.

The Competent Child Psychological Skills Curriculum augments the BSFT technique by providing guided mental health skills activity and practice with the family therapy.
